Johnny Boy Kunk

Idaho's Delta Blues

A Little Background

Johnny was the teenager who started listening to Blues when no one else was.  At 17, a broken heart led him to pick up a harmonica and start playing the Blues himself.  A couple of years later he added the guitar and so began his journey.

To Johnny, the Blues is the therapy of explaining is full of soul.  The magic of Blues is that it says so much with so little words.  One day he made a pilgrimage down to Mississippi to dive deeper into the Delta Blues (a regional style of country blues) and he brought what he discovered back to Idaho to share with all of us.  With musical influences from Charley Patton, Lightin' Hopkins and Deak Harp, Johnny makes his own style with vocal sounds that range from introspective and soulful to passionate and fiery. He brings the real deal Mississippi styles of Delta, Hillcountry and electrified Juke house jams.

Johnny is a songwriter who finds inspiration in the reflection on real life events and the world around him.  He is a one man blues experience; between story telling, foot tapping grooves and a voice cured in Kentucky bourbon, he keeps audiences of all ages and demographics having a good time.

Delta Blues is still a small group here in Idaho, but with the resurfacing of an Idaho love for the Blues, Johnny is the artist to light your passion of it!
